zoo posters of the 1920s and 1930s

I couldn't find much information about these posters, but that they were made in the 1920s-1930s, and it's obvious that they are advertising the zoo throughout the London Underground. I love so many things about them. First of all, it's a pretty cool idea to have posters in the actual tube stations/on the tube that not only advertise a place, but tell you how to get there using the form of transportation that you are currently on. It makes you want to hop on the next train to Regent's Park and check it out.

Secondly, the design in most of these prints is just solid. The penguin one above uses an extremely readable and aesthetically pleasing font. The color choice is perfect too. It has the right amount of pop with the contrast of the yellow and blue and the other colors complement these two colors really well. The poster below is creative, interesting, and simple. It reminds me a little bit of the Muybridge stop-motion prints, which makes the shape familiar, and the declarative zoo. in the center gives the design balance and context (and I really just like it, it seems kind of sassy.)
